Woodstock’s Latin Trio Series is inspired by three distinctly Latin flavors—the Mariachi, the Tango, and the Salsa. The Mariachi band originated in Mexico, and the popularity of Mariachi music spread throughout the world. At first, Mariachi bands were made up of street musicians, looking to earn a bit of money. Now most Mariachi performers are professional musicians. The Mariachi is characterized by a distinctive sound, created by the harmonies of the two violins, the two trumpets, the Spanish guitar, the vihuela, and the guitarrón. The Tango originated in streets and lower classes of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The popular dance hit New York by 1913. The Salsa dance is a fusion of dances and music from Latin American and Africa, originating in Cuba. The three different types of music can be found in the Latin Trio Series.
Woodstock Latin Trio Series features three Latin inspired wind chimes. The first in the Latin Trio Series is the Woodstock Latin Trio—Tango. This chime in the Latin Trio Series is tuned to the last notes of the famous “La Cumparsita.” The second in the Latin Trio Series is the Salsa chime. This chime in the Latin Trio Series is tuned to the same notes as the “Cuban Tres Guitar.” The third in the Latin Trio Series, the Mariachi chime. This Latin Trio Series chime is tuned to the big notes of the guitarron.
